I reviewed the online manual for your 2016 Toyota Prius V on the Toyota website and on pages 264-265 there is mention of tire chain use. Toyota does not specify tire size compatibility but since your tire size 215/50-17 is one of the two stock tire sizes supplied on the car, this means you're clear to use a set of Class S chains like the Thule Easy-Fit # TH04115095 on your FRONT tires. You cannot use chains on the rear tires, per Toyota.
These advanced Thule chains include important features like automatic tensioning, protection from scratches for the car's wheels and a handy quick-release. All of these features, plus the outstanding 5-year warranty, make these chains an excellent choice.
