Hi I am looking to buy a Curt 16055 gooseneck hitch and rails but will work for my 1998 GMC Silverado 1500 short box Thank you

First you will need to install fifth wheel rails in the bed of your 1998 GMC Pickup.

I recommend the Reese Universal Base Rails And Installation Kit, part # RP30035. This is a 10-bolt kit and includes the rails, brackets, and hardware.

The Curt Above-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Fifth Wheel Rails, part # 16055 can be used with the # RP30035 rail kit on your truck. This adapter has a 3-inch offset and a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball.
