Can Friction Sway Control Be Installed on Either Side of Trailer
Question:
Want to purchase sway control arm. Im pulling a Coleman pop up camper 2500lbs with 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8. The trailer has the sway connection mounted already on the trailer driver side. Want to purchase a right side kit but dont see how to connect the unit on right side of hitch. You sell a special hitch but connection is on left.

Actually the Reese Friction Sway Control part # 83660 can be installed on either side of a trailer.
To install the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit, item # 83660, on the right side, you will need to hook up the vehicle and trailer and pull forward so they are in a straight line with each other. You then mount the sway control ball on the weight distribution head. Next mark a point 24 inches from the center of the hitch ball and mount the ball plate on center with this mark.
To install the the left hand side you will need to follow the same instructions and remove the slide bar from the sway control and install it upside down.
I attached an install video for you to check out as well.
