Typically the number one thing that causes trailer sway is improper trailer loading. Not having enough tongue weight will cause sway the easiest. You want to have the tongue weight of the trailer to be 10-15 percent of the total trailer weight. The other thing that can cause sway is not having the trailer sitting level. Having it nose high or low will cause issues.

You will want to check the tire pressure in trailer tires. Make sure they are inflated to the max psi listed on the sidewall of the trailer. Lastly check the condition of the trailer suspension. Look for any components that could be worn out and causing excess movement.
