Recommended Bike Rack for a 2008 Sebring Convertible

Question:

We are looking to purchase a hitch and bike carrier to hold 2 bikes on our 2008 Sebring convertible. It looks like we need the Draw-Tite Sportframe #24871 hitch. But Im having trouble deciding on the bike rack. I thought I would go with the Swagman G10 #64682 but after looking at the specs, it seems like we wont have enough clearance to fold the rack up after we remove the bikes. The biggest selling feature on the G10 is the tilt-away with the bike still attached. I think thats what well need to be able to put the convertible top down without removing our bikes. We would just have to tilt them out of the way first. I also prefer the included locks for the hitch and bikes. Can you give me a recommendation? 2 bikes, 1 1/4inch class I hitch, tilt-away, locks included that would work with our car. The trunk moves out about 5" past the bumper while putting the convertible top up or down. Thanks

You are correct the Draw-Tite 1-1/4 inch hitch # 24871 will be a great choice for your vehicle. I can help you with choosing a bike rack.

I would highly recommend the Thule 2-Bike Helium # TH9042PRO. The distance from center of hitch pin hole to back of upright mast is 14-3/8 inches, see linked image. This would certainly be enough clearance for the convertible top to be opened or closed with the bikes loaded and without having to tilt the bike rack away from the vehicle. The Helium is a reliable rack and it has some great features like the integrated hitch and cable locks, the new cradles that have 2 layers of cushioning and the Hold Fast anti sway cradles, and its light weight design.

I have linked all the parts I mentioned above as well as a few install videos for you to check out for your convenience.
