Ford Hitch Prep Adapter Recommendation for 2016 Ford F-350 to Use Reese Fifth Wheel Hitch

Question:

We recently purchased a 2016 Ford F350 that has the set up for either gooseneck or 5th wheel towing. We also own 2003 Alpinlite 30ft 5th wheel travel trailer. Originally, the trailer came with a Reese hitch. But I was told by the salesman, that with the new truck we would be better off to purchase a gooseneck adapter, since the truck is already set up for one from Ford. All the articles Ive read say a gooseneck is not recommended for a 5th wheel travel trailer and that goosenecks are used for horse trailers. Your input is appreciated. Sincerely,

Sounds like your fifth wheel trailer came with a Reese hitch that is designed to fit standard fifth wheel rails and not the hitch prep package of your brand new Ford F-350. What you would need is just the adapter part # RP30156 to basically install a set of rails in the bed of your truck that will be compatible with the fifth wheel hitch.

I don't like recommending fifth wheel adapters unless that is literally the only option. For what you have the # RP30156 should work very well for you.
