Does Stromberg Carlson Electric Tongue Jack Capacity Represent Maximum Tongue or Trailer Weight

Question:

am looking at the stumberg carlso jet5000# electric tongue jack. Is 5000# the capacity of the jack or the weight capacity of the trailer? Need to know how much tongue weight it can lift.

The 5000 lb figure represents the lift capacity of the jack itself. It'll lift your trailer's tongue weight with ease. Having a jack with that much capacity might seem like overkill, but having a powered trailer tongue jack with the highest available capacity means that the jack will operate more quickly (10 inch travel in about 38 seconds), and because it isn't running at the edge of its capability, the jack will last a lot longer.
