What Does the Yellow Wire Do on Curt 4- and 7-Way Adapter # C57674

Question:

I currently have 4way wired to the factory wires under my spare tires. I know that plugs into the curt 57672. I have 2 10 gauges running from the black and blue on the 7way up to the front. I know blue goes to blue and black to black. Heres my question where do I hook the black up at in the front of my truck? 2nd question is where does the yellow wire go on the curt 57672? Im using a 16ft trailer with break away and trailer brakes. I have already installed the brake control box.

I have included a link to a help article that explains the various connections that need to be made under the hood/vehicle to install a 7-Way and brake controller on your 2002 Chevy Silverado. On the Curt 4- to 7-Way adapter # C57674 the loose yellow wire is for reverse lights.

If the trailer does not have reverse lights or an electric reverse lockout (on a surge coupler) then this circuit is not needed. Otherwise you will tap into a reverse light wire behind one of the tail lights or check where you wired in the 4-Way. There may be a light green wire that carries the reverse light signal.

Ultimately the black wire will connect to the positive battery terminal. When hardwired it connects via a 40 amp circuit breaker # PK54540.
