Fit and Compatibility of Kuat NV NV22G on a 2010 Toyota Rav4

Question:

I have a 2010 Toyota Rav4. Will the Kuat NV work on this vehicle? Will I be able to get the back door open? It opens to the side. Do I need a 2 inch hitch? Is there a different rack I should use?

If you don't already have a hitch on your vehicle, yes, you will need a 2 inch hitch for the Kuat NV 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack # NV22G to fit properly.

The hitch I recommend for your vehicle is the # e98864, because of its high capacities and bumper clearance. I have linked an installation video of this hitch being installed on your vehicle for your convenience.

Now the closest part of the Kuat NV rack when folded down is 10-1/2 inches, so you will have plenty of clearance for your bikes when loaded. What you might find is the closest part of rack when folded up is 7 inches, which could potentially rub or come into contact with your spare tire shell.

To determine if this rack will clear your backside rear door when opened we will need to measure. What you will want to measure is from your door to the ground. I went out to the warehouse and measured the max height of the bike rack when the arms are folded down and I got 11 inches. We know that the top of the 2 inch receiver on the # 75235 will be 13 inches from the ground and the bike rack will be 11 up from that so if your door has more than 24 inches from the ground then this rack will allow you to open your rear door.
