Recommended Weight Distribution/Sway Control System for 19 Foot 3000 lb Lightweight Travel Trailer

Question:

What is the recommended weight distribution and sway control hitch for my 2011 Tacoma Prerunner pulling a 3000lb 19 ft travel trailer with tongue weight of 350lbs? Thanks

Because a travel trailer has a lot of surface area for crosswinds and traffic caused turbulence to act against, I'd highly recommend using a weight distribution system that provides an incorporated sway control component.

To choose the proper system, you'll need to know the tongue weight of the travel trailer when it's fully loaded and ready to go. Anything packed in the truck bed behind the rear axle ALSO needs to be considered as tongue weight. Assuming that the 350 lb figure you mentioned represents the fully loaded tongue weight plus the behind the axle cargo in the truck bed, I'd recommend a system that's rated for tongue weights ranging from 200-600 lbs like the # EQ37060ET from Equal-i-zer. This system provides a highly effective weight distribution system with proven sway control.

The system includes the weight distributing shank, but the properly sized trailer ball is sold separately. For a 2 inch ball, use part # EQ91-00-6080 or # EQ91-00-6100 for a 2-5/16 inch ball.
