What Does PC Rated Mean On The Optronics Trailer Lights, # AL82AB

Question:

When they say PC rated, what does this mean? Also, when they say when mounted at a 45 degree angle, they are both clearance and side marker lights. Does this mean these lights do not serve as both side and clearance lights if just mounted on the side of my over 80 wide trailer?

PC rated means that the light is viewable from a 90 degree angle. Most other lights are considered to be viewable from a 45 degree angle.

On the Optronics Trailer Lights, # AL82AB, this light will function as both a clearance and side marker light if mounted at a 45 degree angle. Just mounting the light on the side of your over 80 inch wide trailer will not allow it to be both a clearance and side marker light, because the light will not be seen at the front or back of the vehicle.

To mount it at a 45 degree angle would mean to mount it on a rounded upper corner of the trailer which would then give off light both to the side of the vehicle and to the front or rear of the vehicle depending on where it is mounted. That would allow it to be classified as a clearance and side marker light.
