Weight Capacity of Curt Receiver Combo Bar # E-9
Question:
I thinking about building a combined 2x2inch trailer hitch and rear winch mount for my 6x6 expedition vehicle. This hitch receiver will replace my tow hook mounted in a 3/4inch steel plate with 1/2inch bolts. I will fabricate a new steel plate and weld in the receiver tube. How powerful winch can this hitch tube handle?

Expert Reply:
Fabrication parts like Curt Combo Bar # E-9 do not carry a weight capacity rating because that will largely depend on the nature of the installation chosen. To what you weld it and how well you weld it will determine its ultimate capacity. If installed properly it will have enough capacity for any recovery winch intended for use in a 2-inch hitch.
