Bike Rack Recommendation for Use in the Bike Bunk Mounted on a Trailer and for Carbon Frame Bikes

Question:

I am interested in the lightest/shortest bike carrier that would support the weight of my bikes on their wheels plus use the bike wheels/tires as attachment points nothing attached to the bike frames. I want something compatible with the CC-275. I have two mountain bikes with carbon fiber frames and my understanding is that they should never be clamped by the frames.

You are right; a carbon bike frame could get damaged if using a traditional hanging bike rack. Also, there are only certain bike racks rated for use on a trailer, or in this case, for the Bike Bunk # CC-275.

But I have the perfect option for you; the Swagman Trailhead, # S63381. It is rated for use with the Bike Bunk, which means it is rated for trailer use, however, it holds the bikes by the frame. I have included a link to a video review of this bike rack for you.

Based on the types of bikes you have, this type of carrier is a concern. The bike rack itself weighs 30 pounds so it will keep the total weight on the Bike Bunk low.
