Troubleshooting Installation of Magnet Clips On Dexter 10,000lbs Axles
Question:
I have Dexter 10,000 lb axles and the clip that holds the magnet on keeps falling off. Every time I take a drum off the clip is gone. Should it still be on there or is that only for assembly.

Brake magnet clips attach the brake magnet to the brake assembly so they should still be on there when you take the drum off. I looked up the 10,000lbs Dexter axle and the # BP19005 is the correct part for the 12 inch electric brake assembles oval magnet. A coworker of mine recommended testing to see if they are seated properly before finishing the install to prevent further problems.
It is hard to say exactly why the magnet clips of your trailer keep dislodging. If the problem is only on one assembly I would be inclined to believe that the problem is the actuating arm of the assembly. I would recommend you take off the hub and drum and thoroughly inspect the entire setup to see if there is anything that would be causing the clip to become loose.
