Fifth Wheel Bracket Kit to Install Reese Fifth Wheel Rails in a 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500

Question:

I have a 30035 universal kit in my 2014 3500hd silverado with husky 26k hitch. I have always used the L brackets to attach the plates. I now have a 2016 silverado 3500hd dually 8box that I want to install this hitch into. I have always drilled the frame to install. I noticed that this truck has holes in the side of the frame with threads which I assume is to install a custom bracket without drilling holes. Can I purchase this bracket separately and will it work with my 30035 universal hold down plates? If so, what is the part #. When I have installed this hitch in the past, I install the rear plate, set the hitch on it and also on the front plate, then drill holes down through the plate holes through the box floor. Then attach the L brackets and where they fit along the frame, drill the holes through the frame. With this side bracket attached to a fixed location on the frame, how do I know where to locate the holes for the plates in the box. Kind of installing it in reverse. since the hitch legs have to line up with the holes in the plates, how do I know which holes to drill down through and will they line up with the brackets beneath the box floor?

We have just what you are looking for. For a bracket kit that will allow the rails of your universal rail kit part # RP30035 to the frame of your 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500 long bed you would want the # RP50066. Had you needed the rails too you would have wanted part # RP50066-58.

Since the hardware for attaching the rails to the brackets is considered one time use you would also want to use the part # RP58430 to attach your rails to the bracket kit.

The method you used for installing your rail kit is the way to do it. Locate the rear rail where it's supposed to go and then using the front mounting tabs of the hitch locate the front rail so that it fits perfectly with your hitch.

With a custom kit you wouldn't have to do this though as the front rail will match perfectly to the bracket kit. Check out the install video I attached for more info on the install process.
