Recommended Roof Mount Cargo Bar for Carrying Golf Clubs on 2008 Pontiac Torrent

Question:

Four people women want to drive from Ottawa, ON to Myrtle Beach, SC with luggage and 4 golf bags. We will obviously need extra space. Can the Rhino-Rack Rooftop Cargo Carrier Bag # RRLBXL be put directly on the roof of my 2008 Pontiac Torrent that has side bars and cross bars similar to Equinox ? The carrier would be for either golf clubs or luggage. The other cargo carrier bag I am looking at is the Rightline Sport 3 XL Rooftop Cargo Bag - 18 cu ft. My concern is that the Rightline Bag may not be big enough. In your opinion how many golf bags or luggage pieces would fit into a Rightline Bag as that would be my preferred choice.

The average golf bag with clubs measures around 50x12x10, so at first glance, you'd want something a little longer than the Rightline # RL100E20 you referenced. I'd recommend the Rightline Sport 3 XL 18 cubic foot bag, part # RL100S30 which measures 48 x 40 x 19 inches. This is the largest bag we offer that will be able to mount directly to your roof rack without needing a roof basket.

This bag is a little shorter than average at 48 inches long, so all 4 ladies will need to measure the total length of their golf bags, if the bags are all less than 48 inches long, the 40 inch width of the bag should easily accommodate 3 of the golf bags (the fourth one might be too tight of a squeeze). Once three golf bags were loaded, you'd still have a bit of room left for smaller pieces of luggage such as duffel bags, but the amount of luggage space you'll have will ultimately depend on the size of the individual pieces.
