Should CTEK MULTI US 7002 Battery Charger Be Connected Directly to Vehicle Battery while Charging
Question:
I recently purchased a CTEK Multi US 7200 Battery Charger. I have a 1996 BMW 328ic and would like to leave the charger on for several months at a time. Do I connect to the battery inside the trunk ? or to the positive terminal and engine block in the engine compartment ?.....thanks

When charging your vehicle's battery with a charger like the CTEK MULTI US 7002 12-Volt Universal Battery Charger # CTEK56353 you will want to connect the charger directly to the battery. A great option if the battery is difficult to access is to use the included eyelet-terminal attachment system with the Comfort Connect end plug to connect the battery to the CTEK charger.
I found the owner's manual for the 1996 BMW 328i to state that if the vehicle is to be parked for longer than 4 weeks, the battery should be disconnected from the vehicle. Vehicle manufacturers typically recommend this to help slow the battery drain. The manual also says tf the car will be stored for longer than 12 weeks, the battery should be removed and stored in a cool room. The battery should be charged every 3 months and before reinstalling in the vehicle. If the battery is not recharged, it will not be serviceable. You can check your owner's manual under the battery section to confirm this information.
