Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Behind an RV

I would not say that either base plate set for your 2014 Jeep Wrangler is easier to install between the XL model 1432-1 and the EZ5 # RM-521448-5.

The XL base plates do not have a cross tube connecting the base plate sides whereas the EZ5 does. And the draw-bar arms are a different design between the 2 systems; flat face for the XL and 2-prong tab style for the EZ5. The EZ5 base plates will only work with tow bars that fit directly into the receiver hitch on the RV. I have linked instructions for both so you can see the steps involved for installation.

For both of these base plate sets I recommend the Falcon 2 tow bar # RM-520. It is rated for 6,500 pounds and is easy to operate with just one person. I have linked a video review of this tow bar for you.

You will also need safety cables. I recommend # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground. For lighting I recommend the 4-diode kit # RM-154. Once installed you will not have to worry about it again. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you.

You may also need a high/low adapter to keep the tow bar level. I have linked a help article showing how to measure and a link to the high/low adapters we carry.

And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the preferred systems for our installers and what I recommend is the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO proportional system, # SM99251. It will apply the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
