Making Wiring Connections Under the Hood of 2007 GMC Yukon to Make Tow Package Functional
Question:
I bought this 07 ?Yukon with a Hayes Engage brake controller but it does not work. Saw some of your VERY good answers about how it should be hooked up, so checked mine. For some reason, the previous owner did not hook it up under the hood as you said it should be. Instead of connecting the 2 wires to there correct terminals, he has a wire from the battery direct to the brake control wire, with an inline 20A fuse wire is unpluged. The battery charge wire is not hooked up at all. Should I connect that direct wire the way he mcgyvered it, and try it, or should I cut that fuse out and connect it the correct way? not sure if he would have wired the underdash wires different to make his system work?!

The previous owner of your 2007 GMC Yukon probably did not know about the under the hood connections that needed to be made in order for the factory tow package wiring to be fully functional.
You can leave it as is but for a cleaner and more professional install I recommend doing it the more correct way; that is to say using the factory wiring as it was intended. I have included a link to a help article that explains this process for you.
