Trailer Tire Recommendation for a Triple Axle Toy Hauler that Weighs 18,000 lbs

Question:

I am looking for the correct tire to purchase for our 2012 5th wheel toy hauler. When loaded we haul about 17000 - 18000 max. We currently have Akarat 235/80R 16, however, we have had several blowouts with these tires and are what came on the unit at purchase. Having a 3 axel has limited the size of the tire when we have been shopping. We need expert opinion for we are headed to Alaska in April, we will be on the road for 6 months.

The tire I would recommend is the Taskmaster part # TTWTRTM2358016E. This is the same size tire as what you have of 235/80R16 and is a Load Range E with a capacity of 3,520 lbs at 80 psi. Which would give you a total of 21,120 lbs of tire capacity since you have a triple axle trailer.

What is also really great about these tires is that they have an M speed rating which means they are rated for up to 81 mph. Most trailer tires are only rated for up to 65 mph so these would be an excellent choice for long road trips where you will be in areas that have higher speed limits than 65.

Make sure you keep the tires inflated to their max pressure to ensure you get the max life out of them.
