Tilting 4 Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2016 Subaru Outback with OEM Hitch
Question:
I have a 2016 Subaru Outback with a factory installed 1-1/4inch trailer hitch. The distance from the face of the hitch to the hitch pin hole is only one inch. I want to buy a top quality 4-bike fold-down hitch-mount bike rack that would be compatible with my trailer hitch and fit securely. What brand and model numbers do you recommend? Thank You.

For the OEM hitches for Subaru that are 1-1/4 inch you will need to go with a Yakima bike rack since they are designed to work with the shallow Subaru hitches like what you have.
The Yakima RidgeBack part # Y02458 is a tilting 4 bike rack that would work well for you. This rack will fit securely so we would recommend it for you. I attached a review video.
If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Swagman Easy-Out Women's and Alternative Frame Bike Adapter # 64005 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
