Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring Left Turn/Stop Signal Not Functioning After Wiring Install

Question:

Hi I have a 2013 Kia Sorrento V6 without the tow package . I installed a cart hitch and Kurt wiring harness number see 56163. I followed instructions to the tea and I recently tried to hook up a new trailer to the Sorrento and I am having problems with all lights . I bought a trailer light tester and I am getting a greenlight for taillights a greenlight for right turn signal no light for a left turn signal and therefore no light for brakelights could you give me some direction ? Thanks

Most likely the problem is that the connector that runs to the left turn signal of the vehicle just isn't fully seating so the connector does not have the voltage at the pin.

However, you can test to make sure the problem isn't the converter box of the harness by using a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test to see if voltage is feeding into the box on the left turn/stop circuit. If voltage isn't there on the input side then the problem is in the connectors that attach to the taillights. If the voltage is there but not making it to the output side of the box the problem is internal of the box and it would need to be replaced.

I attached a help article on troubleshooting trailer wiring for you to check out as well.
