Recommended Brake Controller Plug-In Adapter For 2014 Ram 1500

Question:

For my 2014 Ram 1500 with the new type wiring. Ram has tow package, but no brake controller. I have a slightly used Tekonsha IQ P2 controller. What wiring harness would work with my controller? After installation at my RV dealer, do I have to have a Ram dealer re-program the wiring? My Ram dealer says any after-market controller could cause air conditioning or other electrical failures and wants $430 for in-dash installation! Thank you! Thanks for your help.

The brake controller plug-in adapter that is designed to work with your 2014 Ram 1500 is the Tekonsha part # 3023-P.

One end plugs into the ports that can be found under the dash to the left of the steering column and is usually taped to another wiring harness near the emergency brake pedal. The other end simply plugs into the back of the brake controller.

We have not heard of any issues or problems with air conditioning or other electrical items. We often hear from customers about the excessive charges from dealerships for installation of items that can be done by simply following the included instructions.
