Weight Distribution Recommendation for 1,000 lbs Tongue Weight and 2-1/2 inch Hitch

Question:

Good Day, I recently purchased a RAM 2500 with class V receiver. Id like to find a WD hitch with sway control 1,000 lb TW with a 2.5 inch shank. Id be OK buying a hitch w/ out shank and buy a shank separately. Because Im only hauling a fully loaded 8,000 travel trailer Im OK with some of the less expensive models. I dumped a lot into my truck purchase so Id like to keep hitch costs as low as possible. What would you suggest as a good economical solution? Thanks Much,

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

For an economical option that would work well for 1,000 lbs tongue weigh the Reese Weight Distribution part # RP66022 would be a great option. For a shank you would then want the part # RP54977.

The tongue weight range of this setup is 600-1,200 lbs so it should work well. It's priced about as good as you are going to get as well.
