Help Finding Brake Controller Install Port in a 2013 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
After much searching I finally found a connector taped to a wire bundle behind the driver side kick panel near the parking brake. The problem is it dies not look like the one in your videos and dies not plug into the trailor brake jumper harness which came with the vehicle. This is the only empty connector I can find. Is it possible I have a different connector, or have I found a connector for some other purpose. I have attached a picture of what I found..

Finding the brake controller install port on a vehicle sometimes can be a bit tricky. A lot of times the connector is buried behind other harnesses and it makes it hard to find. The connector you sent a picture in of (thank you for that by the way), is not a brake controller install connector, but you almost found the correct one.
If your vehicle has the factory 7-way trailer connector at the rear of it the port you are looking for is there, it will just be a matter of digging until you find it. Check out the install video I attached that shows the # 3040-P harness being used to install a brake controller in a very similar 2012 Tacoma.
In the video you can see our installer first find the connector you sent a picture of and then explain that the correct one was hidden behind it and other harnesses.
