Can a Used Edge Programmer from One Truck be Used on a Different 2004 Ford F-250 Diesel

Question:

Hi i got a edge programmer from someone i know before he sold his truck! I have yet to put it onto my truck but we had identical trucks just different colors, their both ford f250 6.0 diesels! is there a way i can hook it to my truck or did i lose some money when i bought it from him or could i send it to edge to have it cleared! the only reason i wanted it for was for economy mode! whats your input

You can use the used Edge programmer you bought from a friend. You will need to re-register the device with Edge for a fee so you can use it on your 2004 Ford F-250 diesel. It is designed to be married to one vehicle at a time. This is so 1 programmer can't be passed around which would allow people to tune their vehicles for free. The newer Edges like the Edge Diesel Evolution CTS3 Performance Tuner - Color Screen # EP96TR have the ability to add vehicle licenses to tune multiple vehicles with 1 product. This will be the same idea of the fee you will pay to use it on your truck. However, if the previous owner would have reset his truck to factory settings and uninstalled it from his truck, you could use is without a new fee.
