Expert Reply:
As long as the curb weight of your Jeep Wrangler is less than 5,000 pounds, check owners manual, the RoadMaster Tracker Tow Bar - 5,000 lbs, item # RM-020, can be used to tow the vehicle.
You will also need a set of base plates to tow the 2001 Wrangler. There are several styles of bumper for the wrangler and you will need to select the base plate kit that will work with the bumper on your vehicle. If you have a double tube bumper the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit # RM-521424-4 is the correct kit. If you have a U-channel bumper, the Roadmaster Classic Base Plate Kit, item # 1415-1, is the correct kit.
You will also need to install a lighting system on the Jeep. You can use a magnetic light kit like the Magnetic Towing Light Kit, 20 ft. Long Cord, item # RM-2120, if you will not be towing often. If you will be towing more frequently the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, item # RM-154, is a better choice. This kit installs on the vehicle and remains ready to go once installed so all you have to do is plug the connector in and go.
Other items needed for flat towing your 2001 Jeep Wrangler are a set of Quick Disconnects, item # RM-201, and safety cables, item # RM-643.
The above items will get you started and naturally there are many other options you can consider once you get an idea of what works best for you. We have videos of wiring and base plate installation on a Jeep Liberty for you to review (see links).
