What Can Be Done with a Malfunction Factory Installed Brake Controller on a 2005 Ford F-250
Question:
My trailer brakes will not apply much braking force when the controller is actuated. This controller does not apply braking current under 15 mph. The trailer brakes are new and adjusted. When towing I got Trailer disconnected alarms intermittintly and trailer fault alarms also. Does the computer track these fault codes and how do you test the output to the trailer?

There were a few bugs with the 2005-2006 factory brake controllers on Ford trucks. GM experienced the same situation when they introduced OEM controllers for the 2006 model year. A lot of those folks ended up replacing the problematic OEM units with aftermarket controllers. If you want to get the factory controller working, your best bet is to search the web and online forums or contact your dealer or Ford. We do not know much about those OEM units would not be able provide good trouble shooting help on them.
We do have an article made up for the customers we had that decided to go around the factory controller and use an aftermarket controller. I have added a link to this article below. A lot the users that dropped their OEM controllers chose a controller from the Tekonsha Prodigy line like the Prodigy P2 part # 90885 or the P3 part # 90195. To install either one of these into your F-350 you can use the # 3065-P wiring adapter.
