Can 5th Wheel Towed By short Bed Ford F250 Have Clearance for Turns with Reese Revolution Locked Out  

Question:

i have a 08 ford f250 with a 63/4 bed. my 5th wheel is 8ft wide 2015 flagstaff with a reese revolution pin box ext. my question is will i have enough turn clearance if i lock out the revolution and remove the wedge?

You will not have enough room to complete turns unless you're using a sliding hitch. Even then, with the hitch slid fully rearward, you'll have very little clearance between the front of the trailer and the rear of the truck cab. If you don't have a sliding hitch, you'll barely be able to make any kind of a turn without damaging the truck and the trailer.

You can determine this for yourself by measuring the distance between the outside front of the truck bed and the center of the hitch jaws. That distance needs to be 4 inches greater than half the width of the fifth wheel. If you're using a sliding hitch, you'd add the amount of travel the slider offers to the distance between the front of the bed and the center of the hitch jaws, and that total distance will need to be 4 inches greater that half the width of the fifth wheel.

Your best practice would be to leave the Revolution as it is. I've linked you to an FAQ article about the Sidewinder (which is the aftermarket version of the Revolution).
