All of the aftermarket transmission coolers we offer are designed to be installed in addition to the factory cooler. Auxiliary coolers are not designed to take the place of a factory-style cooler.

An aftermarket auxiliary cooler, like the # D15960 that you referenced, should be installed after the factory cooler. This way, the fluid is cooled by the factory cooler, and then continues to be cooled as it passes through the aftermarket cooler, before entering the engine.

If your factory radiator is damaged, the best recommendation I can make is to replace the factory cooler before installing an auxiliary cooler. An additional cooler, like # D15960, is recommended when you are towing a trailer near the top of your maximum capacity, especially when traveling through hilly or mountainous areas.
