If your 2010 Chevy Colorado is not a Z71 or a Xtreme then the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, # 3122-1, is the correct base plate kit. The XL series brackets allow the visible parts of the bracket to be removed if the vehicle is not being towed.

If you have the 2010 Chevy Colorado Z71 model you would need the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, # 3164-1. There is not a base plate kit for the Xtreme model.

Our most popular tow bar is the RoadMaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar, # RM-520. The non-binding feature allows the telescopic tow arms to adjust independently and center the car automatically and lock in place.

It has a 6,000 lbs. weight capacity and comes with the Quick Disconnects which allow you to connect the tow bar to the vehicle fast and easy. It also can be folded up out of the way if not being used.

You will also need the RoadMaster 68 Inch Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables, # RM-643. These safety cables will keep the vehicle attached to the tow vehicle in case the coupler becomes detached from the hitch ball.

I would also recommend the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, # RM-154, with this kit the vehicle brake lights will function as both brake and turn lights. It will also have the diodes that prevent feedback from going from the taillights on the towed vehicle back to the vehicle that will be doing the towing.

With this wiring kit the brake lights on your 2010 Chevy Colorado will function as both brake and turn lights. If you want to have separate turn and brake signals you would need the Vehicle to Vehicle Taillight Converter, # 118158, and two additional diodes Roadmaster Hy-Power Diodes (Qty 2), # RM-792.

Check the vehicle manufacturers instructions for the proper procedures to prepare the vehicle for towing. Some vehicles must be equipped with a transmission lube pump, an axle disconnect, driveline disconnect or free-wheeling hubs before they can be towed.

On your Chevy Colorado you do not need to disconnect the battery or pull any fuses when towing. You do want to make sure to make sure the steering wheel is unlocked and free to turn.

I am sending video links to a review on the Roadmaster tow bar and on the installation of the towing wiring harness. The wiring harness is being installed on a Jeep Liberty but the wiring principle is the same.
