Is it Normal for a Brake Controller Override Lever to Activate Third Brake Light

Question:

I have a 08 ford f250 that I installed a tekonsha primus controller with their harness adapter. When I slide the switch my third brake light comes on. I would like to know if this is normal. Thank You.

Yes, what you described is normal. The third brake light of your vehicle is illuminating because the Primus IQ brake controller # TK90160 is designed to put voltage on the brake signal circuit of the vehicle to activate the brake lights so that someone behind you would know that you are applying the brakes to slow down.

Basically it's a safety feature.
