Truck Tailgate Step Compatible with 2015 Ram 2500 w/ 5th Wheel Tailgate

Question:

I plan to put a VGD-10-4000 5th wheel louvered tailgate on a 2015 Ram Megacab. Will this fit without problems?

To provide you with a boost up into the truck bed, I'd recommend going with the Bestop # B75306 Truck Bumper Step. The spring loaded step stores up under the rear of the truck, but deploys or retracts with just a push of your foot. The step is compatible with single exhaust trucks only, and can be used with the tailgate open or closed.

The Convert-A-Ball Step Gate # CAB-SG is designed to be used with a factory tailgate, not an aftermarket fifth wheel tailgate like the Stromberg Carlson # VGD-10-4000 you mentioned. The Stromberg Carlson tailgate is constructed with a composite heavy plastic frame that's very strong, but it's nowhere near as rigid as a factory tailgate. My fear is that placing weight on the step could cause the fasteners to pull out of the tailgate, causing injury. The Bestop step would work much better for you, plus you wouldn't need to drill a hole in anything to install it.
