Is Generator Needed to Feed AC Input Power to Trailer Power Converter to Produce DC Output

Question:

I am building a small camping trailer and have the intellisource 45 amp power center. I have it connected to about 12 12volt circuits. I also have 3 110 plugs that are wired to the unit. I have a 30 amp plug and wire going to the ac side for power from a rv park to the unit. But how do I get power to the same 110 plug when I dont have park power. I am thinking that I need an inverter or generator. so the question is, do I spend money on the inverter or generator. As to the inverter, can I hook it up to the same plugs even though they are wired to the converter? As to the generator, will I be able to use a Powerhouse generator inverter 2100 watt with a 230 adaptor to plug into my trailer plug? I am almost finished with this thing and have bought a number of your products and put them in or on the trailer, I want to finish it and send you the completed trailer pics. Thanks for your help. by the way, I have tried to speak with someone at Intellisource a couple of times, left messages but no response. just fyi

I was not able to find any information on the Intellisource 45-amp power center but there is a product from Progressive Dynamics called the Intelli-Power 9200. This is a 45-amp power converter and battery charger for RV use. We carry similar items but not this particular brand.

A device like this will require AC input power to operate. This AC input power is processed and filtered and leaves the converter as stable 13.6 VDC which can charge your trailer batteries and operate it's DC lighting, appliance and other circuits.

When you do not have shore AC power available you will need a generator to feed 120 VAC into the converter. It is important that you choose a generator with enough capacity for the demand from your trailer.

The Powerhouse Professional Series PH2100PRi Generator/Inverter you referenced has an AC output rating of 16.7-amps (17.5-amps peak). This device also includes an inverter, which you do not need since you have one already. Also note this generator will not deliver the full 45-amp capacity that your power converter can handle. It may deliver enough for your trailer's circuits but you will have to determine their total demand to know this for sure.

We do offer generators without inverters and you can see both on the link provided. Buffalo Tools Sportsman Series Propane Generator # BTGEN4000LPC provides 3200-watts continuous rated output and 7500-watt # BTGEN7500DF operates on propane OR gasoline and offers 30-amp maximum output. Both include a DC output too.
