How to Wire a Ground Wire to a Trailer Light that Grounds Through Mounting Hardware

Question:

I just bought a replacement clearance light for my RV and it only has 1 black wire. The trailer wiring has a black and a white wire going to the old light, The directions say all you need to do is hook the black wire to black wire and the white wire to a mounting screw on the light for a ground, Is this correct?

What you would want to do is run the white wire on your trailer's wiring to the ground screw area of the trailer light to ensure that the ground will be sufficient for the light. Then you would just run the power wire to the single wire of the light and you would be good to go.
