Brake Controller Recommendation for a 2013 Toyota Land Cruiser with 7-Way

Question:

I own a 2013 toyota land cruiser and has a 7 pin connector rv style and I want to pull a horse trailer which has electronic brakes. If I simply connect the trailer to my SUV will it brake? What advantages does a brake controller gives me. I was looking to the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller thank you

To activate the brakes on your horse trailer you will have to use a brake controller. Without one there is no way to activate the brakes of the trailer.

Since you have a factory 7-way on your vehicle all you need is the correct install harness. With the Prodigy P3 # 90195 that you are looking at all you would need is the # 3040-P which will plug in under the dash of your vehicle.

The P3 is an excellent brake controller that will sense the amount of braking your vehicle is applying and will apply a proportional amount of braking power to the trailer.
