Will Base Plates From 1993 Jeep YJ Fit A 2016 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk

Question:

Hello, I have a Roadmaster Stowmaster RM-501 on my 1993 Jeep YJ Wrangler. I am purchasing a new 2016 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. from what I see on your site it should work, but is there a different mounting plate required for the Trailhawk bumper? Thank you .

The Roadmaster base plates you have installed on your 1993 YJ will not work on the 2016 Trailhawk, but we do offer the right base plates for you.

I recommend the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate kit, part # RM-521446-4. This base plate kit features removable arms which make this system almost invisible. I have attached a link to an installation video for these base plates on a Cherokee you can check out.

When flat-towing, you need five items. You need base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting for the towed vehicle and most states now require a supplemental brake system.

We covered the base plates and tow bar. for safety cables I recommend part # RM-643.

For lighting on your Jeep I recommend part # RM-15247.

For a supplemental brake system I recommend part # RM-9400. This is a wireless proportional system that applies the brakes on your towed vehicle with the same intensity as the braking action in the motorhome.

In order to maintain your Trailhawk's stable steering while being flat towed you will want to install the Mopar accessory kit 68321424AB, available from your Jeep dealer. This kit will prevent the Cherokee's steering from shaking while being flat towed.

It sounds like you are familiar with flat-towing, but I have also attached a helpful article you can take a look at.
