Availability of Load Range D 5.30x12 Bias Ply Special Trailer Tires

Question:

I have Load Star 5.30x12, Range C, load rating of 1045#. The GVWR for my popup is 2360#. I am just under the rating when loaded up. I am thinking to go with the Range D replacement to get a better cushion of the weight. What is the speed rating for this D tire and is it available mounted on white 4x4 wheels? Thanks.

The speed rating for Kenda K353 5.30-12 - Load Range D Bias Ply Trailer Tire # AM10068 is 65-mph. Unless we indicate a different speed rating, our bias ply special trailer tires are rated for this 65-mph. We do offer pre-mounted 5.30-12 tires on white 4-on-4 wheels (see the linked page, please) but these combo products are offered only in tire Load Ranges B and C.

You can certainly order the tires and wheels as individual items and have them mounted together locally. I linked also our page for 4-on-4 white 12-inch wheels like # AM20122.

Switching from load range C to load range D tires will help keep their operating temperature down. Since heat is a tire's worst enemy, the move to a higher-rated tire that can run cooler with the same load will give you a worthwhile safety margin.

Trailer tires do not require the same full dynamic balancing that passenger car tires do but certainly you can do this if your local shop has the equipment. It would only enhance performance. Trailer tires should always be inflated to their maximum psi-pressure rating as noted on the tire sidewall. Never under- or over-inflate a trailer tire since it can deliver it's rated weight capacity only when inflated to its specified cold pressure.
