Are There Grease Zerk Fittings in the Husky Towing Replacement Head for Round Bar Systems

Question:

Im deciding between the Curt 17057 and the Husky 31425 round bar 14,000/1,400 WH hitches. Two questions: First, does the Husky head have grease zerks in it? I know that the Curt does. Second,do you have a preference of one system over the other, or are they about equal? It may not matter, but TV is 2013 F-150 and TT is Airstream 25 foot. TW is right at 1,000 lbs. Some suggest the 14000# system because the TV is so long and added strength of those torsion bars is needed to transfer weight appropriately. Is this a myth? Thanks

My contact at Husky confirmed that there are not grease zerk fittings on the # HT31516 Husky weight distribution head.

Between the two system you referenced, I recommend the Curt Weight Distribution System # C17057. The grease zerk fittings will easily allow for lubrication of the round bars to maintain the system. This weight distribution system will require a hitch ball with a 1-1/4 inch shank, like # 40038.

What you've heard about using a heavier-duty system is partially true. It doesn't have to do with the length of the F-150, but with the weight ratios between the truck and the trailer. Since the truck is a lighter truck with a heavier trailer, a heavier weight distribution system can be more effective in overcoming the sag caused by the trailer.
