Weight Distribution Recommendation for a Trailer with 900 Pounds Tongue Weight
Question:
I measured tongue weight the way you say by including the weight of the stuff carried in the bed that is behind the rear axle. I get a total weight of 900 pounds. What do you recommend?

Expert Reply:
For your trailer with a total tongue weight of 900 pounds (including the weight of the cargo loaded behind the rear axle of the truck) I recommend a weight distribution system rated for 600 to 1,200 pounds tongue weight # RP66084.
Your tongue weight is right in the middle of the range of this system which is exactly where you would want it to be. It comes with dual-cam sway control which prevents trailer sway from starting. The included shank has a max rise of 7 inches and max drop of 1-1/4 inches. Other shanks are available separately if more rise or drop is needed.
The only other part you would need is a ball. For a 2-5/16 inch ball I recommend # 19286. I have linked a video review of the system for you and some helpful links on weight distribution.
