Can Wheel Hoops and Ratcheting Hook Be Left Off Swagman Platform Rack to Carry One Bike Only
Question:
I carry only one bike, and leaving off any excess parts weight is something I pay attention to. It appears as though it may be possible to install only 2 wheel loops and 1 hook for hold-down to carry one bike, am I right? Thanks

You are correct, it is possible to install only 2 wheel loops and 1 hook on the Swagman Platform-Style 2 Bike Rack for 2 Inch Hitches or RV Bumpers # S64663.The wheel hoops and hooks are adjustable on the bike rack to accommodate different size bikes and are removable so that the components can be replaced.
By not installing one hook and two wheel loops, you will be keep approximately 5 pounds off of the rack. The rack will still only be able to hold up to 35 pounds per bike. Additionally, when carrying only one bike, it is best to keep the bike as close to the vehicle as possible.
