Can a Pullrite Superglide be Used in a Long Bed 2015 Ford F-250 with Hitch Prep

Question:

I just went from a 2015 F250 6foot bed to a 2016 F350 8foot bed. Purchased a PullRite 16k SuperSlide 5th wheel hitch a year ago. I do not want to purchase another hitch due to cost and was looking at the #30156 Reese Elite 5th Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Mounting Adapter. I have gotten mixed reviews about using the Superslide on the long bed. I know I dont need it, but can I? A person at the RV sales center said that using the slider on a long bed would damage my truck, another stated that it was fine to use and would not cause any damage. I have read your experts advice before and have followed with great results.

While there is no need for a slider hitch for a long bed truck, there is no reason you couldn't use one in a long bed truck. Normally when we get this question the slider hitch is a manual slider and we recommend just leaving the slider in the towing position (slid forward) since it would not be necessary to ever slide it back.

Since your Pullrite is an auto-slider it is going to slide unless you lock it out. I was able to do some online digging and there is a way to lock them out, but since we don't carry Pullrite hitches your best option would be to contact at Pullrite dealer on how to do that.

With that being said, you can still allow the hitch to slide back in a long bed truck if you didn't want to lock it out.

There is more than one version of the Pullrite SuperGlide 5th wheel trailer hitch. If it is the one that states it is an ISR (stands for industry standard rails) then it will fit the Elite adapter part # RP30156 you referenced.
