Recommended Dual-Jaw Fifth Wheel Hitch To Replace Slide Bar Fifth Wheel Hitch

Question:

I am looking to replace my 5th wheel slider hitch before spring. I have a long bed dually truck with a square turnover ball, a curt in rail adapter which works great to supply the universalinch rails, and a curt R5 slider and head. First, I hate the bar on the curt head and want to go with jaws to make hitching and especially unhitching easier. Next the curt rails are a pain...very hard to trip the slider forward or back on our dirt road. My 1 mile dirt road is very rough, and I need a slider to move the trailer back so it doesnt bump the bed going over the bumps, or hit the tailgate. Are any of the other sliders more forgiving on uneven ground? Can use the curt rails or go directly with something that uses the gooseneck hole.

I recommend replacing your slide-bar fifth wheel hitch with a hitch that has dual jaws.

The hitch I recommend is the Curt Q24 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R24 Slider, part # C16546. This system features 360-degree jaw to king pin contact that means less rattle than the slide bar you have. The hitch also features 3 color indicators that tell you if you are ready to hook up, or if it is locked, and if it is ready to uncouple. This hitch would fit right in the Curt rails you have in the bed of your truck.
