Snow Cable Recommendation for a P255/75R17

Question:

I need snow chains for my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport S JK with P 255/75R17 M + S goodyear tires. everything I am reading says I cant put snow chains on these size tires for this jeep, because I wont have the clearance but I am required by law in the state of California to at least carry chains to get over any interstate in the mountains. Is it true that I cannot purchase chains for my Jeep? please help. thank you very much. new jeep owner and excited to get to the snow.

We can't stop anyone from buying any of our tire chains regardless of what the owners manual states. We can only state that we can never recommend you disobey the fit recommendations listed in the owners manual of a vehicle in regards to whether tire chains will be safe to use and not cause damage.

In your situation where you have to have a set of chains that will fit your tire size your best off getting a Class S compatible set of cables like part # PW3027C which will leave you with the best clearance in the event you had to put the cables on.

You might also try contacting a Jeep dealer and explain to them your situation. Sometimes they will waive the restrictions for situations where chains/cables have to be used.
