Compatibility of Curt Class V Shank on Reese Strait Line Weight Distribution
Question:
I have a Reese Strait Line hitch with the 1500 lb trunnion bars. It did not come with a shank so I purchased the Reese 54977 class V shank only to find it wouldnt fit in the factory receiver of my truck. The pin hole was 1/8inch too far forward and the pin would not go in. I returned it and am on the search for a class V shank to work with the Reese Strait line head. Is this Curt shank compatible with the Reese head? I measured my 2008 GMC Sierra 3500HD hitch receiver face to the center of the 5/8inch pin hole and found it to be 2 7/16. Your pictures and video show the Curt shank has 3inch clearance to the weld so it should work fine. Do you agree?

Good news, the Curt # C17131 shank will work with your Stait-Line System.
We have heard about some issues with the Reese class V shank fitting into the OEM hitch because of a radius differences between the Reese shanks and certain OEM hitches.
