What Weight Distribution System Will Work On Toyota 4Runner Towing A Fleetwood Camper

Question:

Im towing a 2006 Fleetwood Timberlake Americana chassis with side mounted swing up tongue jack with a Toyota 4Runner 5000 lb rating and have been looking at one but am concerned it is not heavy duty enough and many have complained about problems with hookup. Would the Reese RP66082 be overkill or would it provide a little more control? Do you have a different recommendation altogether? Thanks.

The weight distribution system you will need will depend on the tongue weight of your trailer fully loaded. The tongue weight is 10 to 15 percent of the trailer weight.

If the tongue weight capacity on your weight distribution system is too high than it will cause a very stiff ride. If the tongue weight is too low it will cause the weight distribution system to be ineffective.

The Reese High Performance Reese Weight Distribution System, # RP66082, is designed for tongue weights of 200 to 600 lbs. and a maximum towing weight of 10,000 lbs. Because of where the hangers are attached to the trailer with this system you will have to remove the side mounted jack and make some other accommodation for a trailer jack.
