Should Friction-Style Sway control Be Removed When Backing Trailer Up

why is it recommended that i cant back up with the Reese or Pro friction sway control installed?

Friction sway control like # 83660 places more tension on the system when backing up. Keeping the friction-style connected when backing up could damage the trailer or sway control unit.
It is also recommended that the sway control be taken off when facing slippery conditions.
