Availability of Snow Chains for a Tesla Model S with 245/35-21 Wheels/Tires

Question:

Hi, I have a Telsa Model S Dual Motor with 21inch Wheels. Per the Tesla chains can only be used with 19inch wheels and only on the rear wheels. What can we do if we have 21inch Wheels? My setup is as follow 245/35/21 and 275/30/21.

For the tire size you listed the Thule K-Summit Chains part # TH02230K45 are confirmed to fit and would be the best shot at a set of chains that would fit without issue on your vehicle.

Most of the time the reason tire chains aren't recommended for certain vehicles is due to inner wheel clearance between the tire and the vehicle body or frame. What is great about these chains is that they do not drape of the inner sidewall of the tire at all so there would be no clearance issue there.

What's great about these chains also is that they do not touch the rims at all so you wouldn't have to worry about damaging expensive wheels like what you most likely have on your Tesla Model S. This is also another reason chains aren't recommended for some setups.

However, that being said I can't recommend you run tire chains on a vehicle if the owners manual specifically says they can't be used.

I attached an install video for these chains for you to check out as well.
