Parts Needed to Tow a 2016 Fiat 500 Pop Behind a Motor Home
Question:
I have a 2016 Fiat 500 Pop. It is not an L or any other special model. Just a straight up 500. I need to tow it behind our motorhome. It has a hitch and a 7 and 4-Way outlet already. What parts do I need?

To flat tow your 2016 Fiat 500 Pop behind your motor home you will need base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking. I will be happy to make recommendations for you.
Starting with the base plates for the vehicle you can use # 522013-1A. the base plates provide the proper attachment point on the vehicle for a tow bar. For a tow bar the most popular compatible option is the Falcon 2, # RM-520. I linked a video review of the tow bar for you.
For safety cables I recommend coiled cables # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground. For lighting you have a few options. You can use a simple magnetic kit such as # RM-2120. Or for a more permanent solution our installers prefer the bulb and socket kit # RM-155.
And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the preferred systems for our installers is the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO proportional system, # SM99251. It will apply the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
Be sure to consult your vehicle owners manual for specific information on flat towing the vehicle. I have also included some helpful links to our series of help articles on flat towing for you.
