Solution for Drone After Installing Magnaflow Muffler on Ford Explorer
Question:
I INSTALLED A MAGNAFLOW MUFFLER #13215 ON MY 2004 FORD EXPLORER 4 DOOR. THE ENGINE IS A 4.6 V8. I have a very loud drone sound when it just finished shifting driving at normal speeds. When I start driving and it hits around 1800-1900 rpms if I dont increase the speed the drone is there all the time. How could I fix this problem. Thanks.........

The Magnaflow part # MF13215 is a chambered muffler and typically you don't see drone with these styles of mufflers unless you also remove the catalytic converters. Are your cats still in place.
That being said the only way to really reduce drone is to add additional mufflers like a straight through part # MF10445. This has the same inlet/outlet size as the # MF13215 so it will work in place of a straight piece of your exhaust piping. Since this is a straight through muffler it won't add any back pressure.
